Insurance is a vital part of any move and although every care is taken to insure all your belongings arrive safely it is advisable that Marine Transit Insurance cover be taken.
Dolphin Movers are authorised and regulated by the FSA (Financial Services Authority), our FSA registration number is 427493 and therefore we are able to arrange marine insurance cover underwritten by Lloyds of London specifically designed to insure household goods, personal effects and motor vehicles for all overseas moves.
Below are two different types of cover to choose from together with the premium charge:
1. Restricted cover: this is the basic insurance for owner packed items covering physical loss or physical damage attributable to fire or explosion, vessel or craft being stranded, ground, sunk or capsized, overturning or derailment of land conveyance, collision or contact of vessel, craft or conveyance with any external object other than water, discharge of cargo at a port of distress or caused by:
General average sacrifice, jettison.
The charge is 5% of the declared value of the goods which includes mediation fee of 3.05%.
2. Owner Packed: this is the basic insurance for owner packed items covering loss and theft but excluding damage and breakage. The charge is 2.5% of the declared value of the goods which includes our mediation fee of 1.6%
3. All Risks: this covers all goods that have been packed by us or our agents and includes loss, theft, damage and breakage. The charge is 3.5% of the declared value of the goods which includes our mediation fee of 1.75%
The minimum charge for insurance is £25.00. Insurance Premium Tax is payable in addition, at 5% of the premium.
Excess
The first 1% of the value of the consignment subject to a minimum amount of £100 and a maximum amount of £500 of every claim for loss or damage covered.
Storage Insurance
We also provide cover whilst your possessions are in storage. Storage insurance is charged at 0.5% of the declared value. Insurance Premium Tax is payable in addition, at 5% of the premium.
