About Barnet

Barnet is an attractive place to live as it is within easy reach of Central London, as well as open countryside and woodland. It is an upmarket borough that lies on the border between London and Hertfordshire. It has a great sense of community spirit and is also known as Chipping Barnet or High Barnet.

The borough has a long history and lay on the travellers’ route from the City of London and York, and as many as 150 coaches passed through Barnet each day. It was the site of one of the most important battles of the War of the Roses in the late 15th century and has a market which dates as far back as the 12th century.

Commuting from Barnet

Barnet is about a 20 minute drive from Charing Cross. If you live in High Barnet, it is served by the Northern Line, and if you take the train from New Barnet, you can get to Finsbury Park in 15 minutes and less for Hornsey Station. New Barnet also benefits from being close to the A1, M1 and M25.
