Removals to South Cyprus | Shipping to South Cyprus

At Dolphin Movers we carry out removals to South Cyprus, or back again, roughly twice a week, with most trips involving the cities of Larnaca, Limassol and Paphos. This means we know the region well and are in a good position to ensure that, if you need shipping to South Cyprus, your move goes without a hitch.

Most people moving to South Cyprus are coming here for personal reasons, either to retire, to find a better lifestyle or to work. South Cyprus is an attractive destination for many Brits who have decided to take advantage of the freedom to live and work here (South Cyprus is technically part of Greece and therefore the EU). However we can also cater for businesses which may require removals to South Cyprus.

Our shipping to South Cyprus service takes place primarily by sea and we understand that coordinating the movement of people and belongings to this destination can involve several days to allow for packing, vacating properties, personal travel, taking possession of new properties and so on. Our service is designed to take account of this and includes, for instance, up to 4 weeks free storage prior to departure.

About South Cyprus

Demographics and Geography
The capital city of Southern Cyprus, also known as the Republic of Cyprus, is Nicosia. Other major cities include Paphos, Larnaca and Limassol. The population is well over 800,000. The two main airports are Larnaca and Paphos with sea ports at Limassol, Larnaca, Paphos and Latchi. It takes around five hours to fly from the UK to Southern Cyprus. Southern Cyprus is the southern part of the island, which is located in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea, close to Greece, Turkey, Syria Lebanon, Israel and Egypt.

The main industries are manufacturing, the tourism sector, construction and agriculture. The two biggest exports are potatoes and dairy products.

South Cyprus, of course, shares a common history with its neighbour, North Cyprus up until the establishment of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in 1983 following a bitter civil war between the Greek and Turkish populations.

Prior to that, up till 1960, Cyprus was a British colony and before that it was a part of the Ottoman and Byzantine empires. But even before that the island changed hands several times being occupied at various times by Romans, Greeks, Assyrians, Egyptians and Phoenicians as far back as 8,500 BC.

Cyprus has long been a popular destination for both summer and winter holidays. Places to visit include the Cyprus Museum in Nicosia, Ancient Kourion (Curium), Winery tours in the Krassohoriá, painted Troödos churches and scuba diving at Larnaca. Limassol's old quarter comprises of a market, surrounded by tavernas and bars, and a small medieval castle. Larnaca is quieter and has a salt lake, palm trees and yacht marina. Paphos is the most popular resort for British holiday makers and expats alike. Light sea winds mean that summer temperatures can be a couple of degrees cooler here.

Expats in Southern Cyprus
Southern Cyprus is emerging as a popular destination for UK people looking to work or retire abroad, offering a warm, Mediterranean climate and a relaxed lifestyle. The economy in South Cyprus is well developed compared to the North and there is a well established business industry as well as a developing oil business. Many retired expats benefit from a special tax treaty which allows them to pay much lower rates of income tax on their pensions.
